The emplacement of the granitoids in eastern Xizang is related to the faulted structures,and the distribution of the granite masses is reconciled with the regional (NW NNW) structural lineament.Five granite belts are recognized from east to west.(1) The Jomda Mangling granite belt trending NNW SN is located in the zone between the Jinsha River deep fault and Chesuoxiang Deqen fault,and composed of Caledonian,late Hercynian and late Indosinian granite masses.(2) The Yulong Markam porphyry belt lies in the zone between the Chesuoxiang Deqen fault and Tuoba Laoran fault,stretching southwards from Yulong,through Zalagar,Mangzong,Duoxiasongduo and Malasongduo to Mamupu and Mangling.The rock belt is occupied by the Himalayan monzonitic granite porphyry and orthophyre with an exposed area of lesser than 0 6km 2.(3) The Riwoqe Dongdashan Yanjing granite belt intermediate between the Lancangjiang (Kargang Yanjing) fault and Lancangjiang suture zone (Riwoqe Meilixueshan Shuangjiang) consists of a series of huge compound granitic batholiths,stocks,apophyses and veins being Indosinian and late Yanshanian in age.(4) The Nujiang granite belt on the northeastern side of the Nujiang collision suture zone is made up dominantly of the Guoqing granite masses being early Yanshanian in age.(5) The Baxoi Zayu granite belt,belonging to the eastwards extended part of the Gangdise granite belt west of the Nujiang fault,is bounded by an approximately NS trending structural zone along the Hengduan Mountain system in the east,and by the roughly EW trending Himalayan structural zone in the west,being of late Yanshanian and Himalayan age. Seven stages of granitoids may be separated in terms of the emplacement age of the granitoids and isotopic dating:(1) the Caledonian granitoids (462 Ma,Rb Sr method) are represented by tonalite masses in Dongpu,Jomda,the oldest granitoids in Xizang;(2) the late Hercynian (229 246 Ma) granitoids by biotite granite in Pushuiqiao,Jomda;(3) the Indosinian (194 220 Ma) granitoids by quartz diorite porphyrite in Jiaduoling and granite diorite masses in Dongdashan,Jomda;(4) the early Yanshanian (160 170 Ma) granitoids by monzonitic granite masses in Guoqing;(5) the late Yanshanian (72 128 Ma) granitoids by most of the granite masses in the Baxoi Zayu Bomi granite belt;(6) the early Himalayan (37 52 Ma) granitoids by porphyry masses in the Yulong Markam porphyry belt,and (7) the late Himalayan (16 24 Ma) granitoids by gueissic granite in Sotang west of Bomi.The tempo spital distribution of the granitoids outlined above indicates that the granitoids become progressively younger from east (Jinsha River) to west (west of Nujiang River). The integration of petrographic,REE geochemical,isotopic geochemical,fluid inclusion and heavy mineral data shows that there are four genetic types of the granitoids in the study area.(1) The mantle derived (M type) granitoids represented by the Shama plagiogranite masses in Lower Zayu,which are considered as the derivatives of the subducting oceanic crust in the mantle,with the initial 87 Sr/ 86 Sr values of 0 7039, 143 Nd/ 144 Nd values of 0 512648, ε Nd(t) value of 0 48,ΣREE=28 56×10 -6 .(2) The crust mantle syntectic (I type) granitoids composed of diorite,quartz diorite porphyrite,tonalite,granodiorite and monzonitic granite resulted from the hybridization and syntexis of the mantle derived intermediate basic magmas with the crustal sediments prevail in the continental marginal magmatic arcs,or in the intracontinental strike slip pull apart and extensional fault and depression zones under the distal effects of the plate subduction and collision,and in the consumed palaeosuture zones.The initial 87 Sr/ 86 Sr values range between 0 7061 and 0 7710,and ε Nd(t) values between -8 4 and -1 94.ΣREE=183×10 -6 .(3) The crust derived reworking (S type) granitoids are observed in Zayu,Guoqing,Dongdashan and Pushuiqiao.The δ 18 O values vary from 9 2 to 14 5‰; the initial 87 Sr/ 8
