Laboratory analogue models are found to be very useful in anatysing problems which do not yield really mathematical solution, and have been extensi vely used in studying complicated geophysical problems.The present work reviews the development of analogue model method in the world, especialty in Canada; describes various kinds of source field models, such as plane wave model, line current model, and magnetic dipole model; andshows the applications to studying the coast effects, island-continent ocean channels, electromagnetic effects inducec by ocean waves, aond anisotropic conductors. The results of comparison of analogue model measurements and numerical calculations indicate very good agreement, arid confirm the validity of the analogue method for studying complex two-and three-dimensional induction problems. uch research work goes a long way in understanding the behaviour of natural electromagnetic field, carrying, out geophysical pr0specting, and investigating the electrical;structures of the Earth's crust and mantle.

This paper describes the results of numerical modelling of wave disturbance in the harbor of Rφnne, Denmark, using the hydrodynamic modelling System 21 of the Danish Hydraulic Institute. This paper describes the results of numerical modelling of wave disturbance in the harbor of Rφnne, Denmark, using the hydrodynamic modelling System 21 of the Danish Hydraulic Institute. The name of the system indicates that it can be applied to unsteady 2-dimensional flow in 1 layer. It includes the so-called "Boussinesq" terms, which account for the deviation from hydrostatic pressure distribution caused by the vertical accelerations. It can simulate the phenomena of diffraction, refraction, reflection, and shoaling of natural irregular waves in a harbor of arbitrary shape and bathymetry. A fleld-measured, irregular wave spectrum has been applied as input data. To avoid instability problems and to keep the phase errors within acceptable limits, a grid size of 5m and a time step of 0.Ss have been adopted, giving an accurate simulation of wave components with periods longer than 4s. Therefore, all harmonic components of the input random wave time series which correspond to periods less than 4s have been filtered out. Of particular interest is the availability of both field and physical model measurements which can be used for model validation purposes. The scale ratio of the physical model in which the natural irregular wave spectrum was reproduced wao 1 to 80. The field measurements were made both outside the harbor and in the basins, using a wave rider and wave gauges. There is a good agreement between the disturbance coefficients of the numerical modelling and those of the physical modelling on the one hand and, what is more important, between the numerical modelling results and the field measuring data on the other hand. It provides strong evidence and furnishes convincing proof that an accurate finite difference approximation of the Boussinesq equations can be relied upon as a powerful tool for studying short wave disturbance problems within harbors of arbitrary configuration and bathymetry.

After a brief analysis of the geometry of SPOT imagery, a mathematical evaluation model is introduced. A bundle block adjustment program on Siemens Computer 7570-C, a special software package for SPOT stereo model measurement at Planicomp C-100 as well as a program for producing orthophotos at orthophotoprinter OR-1 have been developed by the authors. Some experiments using the panchromatic SPOT stereo pair over the area of Marseille have been carried out and have shown satisfactory results.
