The relationship between the modulus of resilience and California bearing ratio and their measurement are diseased, and a large number of field measure is carried on a sample road in Xinyang region of Henan. A relation expression between the modulus of resilience and California bearing ratio for this region is set up by correlation analysis, and it provides reliable basis for the pavement design in this region and the other resemble subgrade ahead.

The importance and wide use of the California Bearing Ratio(CBR)test are explained in this paper. On the basis of three soil samples test the methods of indoor test and comparison of the test results are introduced. Besides,using CBR value to design the thickness of soft road surface and test methods to define CBR value are described. The hyperbola rolationship between bearing strength and quantity of penetration is also explained.
