The analysis of components of wood turpentine and sulfate turpentine shows that, besides a-、β-pinene, there are 10.73% and 8.01% 3-carene sulfate turpentine in wood respectively. Through vaecum fractionation, the fractions of 89.1% α-pinene,72.3% and 56.3% 3-carene are obtained from wood turpentine; 96.7% α-pinene, 68.1% β-pinene and 59.5% 3-carene are obtained from sulfate turpentine. This paper relates to magnolia ketone perfume synthesis with eyclopentanone, a byproduct, as raw material. This synthesis process includes aldol condensation, dehydration rearrangement, Michael reaction, decarboxylation and product refining. The obtained product magnolia ketone perfume has soft, fine and delicate fra- grance which is similar to magnolia flower and jasmine perfume. It can be used in cosmetics as essence.
