The heat transfer coefficient of a large pan rotary dryer was calculated by using particle heat transfer model of moving heating-plane type. Under the assumption of the particle bed is wholly mixed, the heat transfer coefficient of each pan and the whole dryer was calculated by dividing the pans into four segments according to the characteristic drying curve. The result conforms to the practial operation of the dryer.
