Most of this work has been fallen under the head of the utilization of indigenous parasitoids, predaceous insects, mites and spiders, such as Trichogramma spp., Anastatus Sp., Dibrachys cavus, Chrysopa spp., Coccinella septempunctata, Amblyseius newsami, etc. This work included the mass rearing along with field release, introduction, transplantation and conservation of these arthropods.Introduction of exotic species of parasitic and predaceous arthro pods has been in small extent, but more attention has been paid in recent years. Many species of introduced species, such as Rodolia cardinalis, Aphelinus mali, Encarsia formosa, Phytoseiulus persimilis, Typhlodroma occidentalis, etc. showed effetive against some insect pests.Microbial control of insect pests has been used fairly extensively in China against many pests. preparations of Bacillus thuringiensis and Beauveria bassiana have been used against many species of insect pests since 1960. Hirsutella thompsonii and aphicidin, an antibiotic, also used in orchards for insect control in recent years preparations of some nuclear polyhedrosis virus and granular virus were produced in laboratory or in pilot plant since 1980s. Nematode, Neoa- plectana feltiae agriotos has been found effective against some insect pests in field trial.Conservation and attraction of entomophagous birds in North China resulted in satisfactory control of insect, pests in orchards.

Field releases of M. linearis resulted in an increased parasitization rate of Asian corn borer.

The effects of egg densities of Dendrolimus punctatus Walker on the parasitizing efficiency of its three important egg parasitoids—Trichogramma dendrolimi Matsumura, Telenomus dendrolimusi Chu and Ansatatus albitarsis Ashmead——and the interactions of these parasitoids on egg clusters were studied through laboratory and field trials and field sampling. It was found that T. deudrolimi and T. dendrolimusi had relevantly more egg clusters discovered as the number of egg clusters per niche unit (here referred to as the individual tree )increased. However, this kind of responses was not apparent for A. albitarsis. It was also found that as the number of eggs per egg cluster increased, the discovering rates of egg clusters and the number of parasitized eggs of discovered egg clusters of the three parasitoids increased, but the percent parasitisms decreased. The number of eggs per cluster fixed, A. albitarsis parasitized more eggs than the other two parasitoids. When searching for host egg clusters, T. dendrolimi and T. dendrolimisi tend to avoid each other, While T dendrolimi and A, albitarsis tend to attract each other.
