This paper systematically and profoundly deals with the petrogenic mechanismof Tongguanshan complex throngh studies of the petrology, minerageny, rare earthelement and trace element geochemistry, etc. Problems concerning the igneous com-plex genesis, such as petrogenic conditions, material sources and rock--forming proc-esses, are analyzed, in detail. The following are the main conclusions of the paper. 1. A lot of geological and geochemical evidence shows that the Tongguanshanigneous complex was formed...

This paper systematically and profoundly deals with the petrogenic mechanismof Tongguanshan complex throngh studies of the petrology, minerageny, rare earthelement and trace element geochemistry, etc. Problems concerning the igneous com-plex genesis, such as petrogenic conditions, material sources and rock--forming proc-esses, are analyzed, in detail. The following are the main conclusions of the paper. 1. A lot of geological and geochemical evidence shows that the Tongguanshanigneous complex was formed by fractional crystallization of the same parent mag-ma. The process occurred below the level of emplacement of the pluton and becameperfect during the emplacement of the magma. 2. The magma of the Tongguanshan complex originated in the old lower crust,where the rocks have composition similar to basaltic rocks derived from the mant-le and underwent many geochemical cycles. When the melt produced by partialmelting of the source rocks migrated from the provenance, granulite facies rockremained there. 3. Although there is no apparent assimilation and contamination in respect torare earth elements and trace elements during intrusion of the magma, the maincomponents Na_2O and K_2O of the magma have been obviously polluted by the wall--rock, and the magma mixed with some ore--forming elements, such as Pb, S. Fe(Cu), cannot be neglected. 4. It is very easy and effective to determine the REE pattern of the parentmagma by using the REE geochemistry method. The mineralogy in the provenancecan be rocognized by comparing the REE patterns of the parent magma and itsderivatives with the mineral--melt REE distribution pattern.

NaCl; the first lead-zinc mineralization stage with Th = 220-280℃ and salinity = 4-8 wt% equiv. NaCl, and the last stage with Th = 130-190℃ and salinity = 2-6 wt% equiv. NaCl.3.The pressure of mineralization at least is about 200 bars.4.Ore-forming fluids are rich in Na, K, S, and possibly Cl.5.Evidence of boiling of the hydrothermal system has been found.According to the study of inclusions and other geological-geochemical evidence, we have come to the conclusion that the ore-forming fluids with moderate to low salinity and high concentration of Na, K, S, and possibly Cl, which came from the mixture of meteoric water and magmatic water, brought ore metals (e.g. Ag) into the mineralization structure, resulting in the mesoepithermal deposit in a supergene environment.
