The theory of mechanical moving effects for phase grating was first establised by Raman-Nath in 1932,and has been confirmed by experiments of phase grating formed in sound travling waves,then in sound standing waves.Now it is also confirmed by our experiments with mechanical moving phase grating.But most of the theories for this effect are based on Maxwell equations.They are rather lengthy.In this paper,only using Huygens- Fresnel principle based on moving sinusoidal phase grating we have derived the expressions of diffraction angles,the frequency shifting effects and the efficiency of diffraction for the phase grating.For which we emphasize the frequency effect,and we have compared and summarized several kinds of phase grating.The process of derivation is simpler and its physics is obv- ious.Basing on this theory,we have confirmed that the rectangular phase grating is realizable in experiment,and we expect favourable applications. The results of standing wave phase grating are the guide of how to select the diffraction order.
