A preliminary survey on the subtropical mangrove fungi in the PearlRiver Estuary was undertaken between 1990 and 1991. The results indicatefungal species in the mangroves in Hong Kong. Macau and Futian. Shenzhenwere c(lually rich and diversified as the tropical regime....

A total of 76 spccies were recorded on 260 driftwood.samplcs consisting of 46 Ascomycotina. 26 Deuteromycotina and 4Basidiomycotina. The dominant species include Trichocladium linderii ( 18 % ) .Marinosphuera mangrovei ( 13% ). Ligninucola laevis (13% ) . and Hypozylonoceunicum ( 11 % ) . phomopsis sp. ( 8% ) . Phomu sp ( 6% ) . Halosarpheiaabonnis (6% ) . Cirrenalia sp. (5% ) and Savoryella Iignicola(5% ) were lessfrequent. Several species are new to science and these include Massaroiaarmatispora . Diaporthe salsuginosa . Aniptodera haispora . Melaspilea sp. andPleospora sp. which will be described.

Eighteen kinds of compounds are separated from marine fungus Julella Avicenniae,and three kinds of compounds are separated from its culture fluid. This paper identifies the structures of two kinds of metabolites, Ergosterol and Eicosanic acid ethyl ester based on the data of MS,NMR and chemical evidence.

Marine fungus Hypoxylon sp. from the South China Sea was cultured and their volatile metabolites were isolated. Nine compounds from its mycelin and nine comopunds from its culture broth were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses of GC-MS.
