In the paper, an experimental research on both dimensional and environmental effects which influence the changes of P-wave velocities in plexiglass sample is conducted by using ultrasonic seismic modelling method,The results show when the thickness of the sample is less than a wavelength, the P-wave velocity of the sample is obviously influenced by the observed environmental medium as well as the sample's dimension. In the paper, an experimental research on both dimensional and environmental effects which influence the changes of P-wave velocities in plexiglass sample is conducted by using ultrasonic seismic modelling method,The results show when the thickness of the sample is less than a wavelength, the P-wave velocity of the sample is obviously influenced by the observed environmental medium as well as the sample's dimension. The variation of the P-wave velocity is about 16% as the sample's thickness increased from 1/16 to 3 of transducer's wavelength. In the fluid which velocity is lower than the sample's velocity the P-wave velocity of sample is higher than that in the air. The increasing amplitude of P-wave velocity depends on the variety of the fluid. The transfer phenomenon from P-wave to extension-Wave is also preliminarily discussed in the paper.
