The cold-rolled and recrystaliization textures of molybdenum single crystals of (110)[001] and (111)[112] orientation after a reduction in thickness of 70, 80 and 85 pet were investigated. As the reduction in thickness increased from 70 to 85 pet, the recrystaliization textures gradually changed from the (110)[001], (22l)[114] orientations towards the (320) [001] and (210) [001] orientations. These results can be satisfactorily explained by the point of view of oriented nucleation.

The contents of this paper are as follows: (1) The local vacuum range above the molybdenum melting pool during the process of eletron-beam welding and the effect of technological factors on it are investigated. The authors give a thermodynamic analysis of the metallurgical reactions, possibly ocouring during the welding process. (2) The effects of welding technology on the properties, particularly on the ductility of molybdenum welds are studied. (3) In the last part of the paper, the authors made a study of the influence of welding technology on the grain-size of bead metal, impurity contents on the grain boundaries, and the ductility of the crystals of bead metal, and thus, an analysis of the cause of brittleness of molybdenum welds. On the basis of the foregeing results, the authors suggest a satisfactery technology for welding molybdenum (thickness 1. 5 mm) with eloctron-beam welding set ZD-30 and point out the direction for farther improvement of the ductility of welds.

Internal friction as a function of strain amplitude in zone-refined molybdenum single crystals and commercially pure polycrystalline molybdenum was measured with the three-component piezo-electric resonator method developed by Marx. A Granato-Lucke (GL) type of strain-amplitude-dependent decrement was obtained in molybdenum single crystal annealed in hydrogen at 2000℃. Internal friction as a function of strain amplitude in zone-refined molybdenum single crystals and commercially pure polycrystalline molybdenum was measured with the three-component piezo-electric resonator method developed by Marx. A Granato-Lucke (GL) type of strain-amplitude-dependent decrement was obtained in molybdenum single crystal annealed in hydrogen at 2000℃. With some prior deformation in molybdenum single crystal, a plateau (or maximum) appears on the decrement-amplitude curve, which is similar to the results of pure aluminium at low temperature and low strain amplitude. From the observations of dislocation etch-pits, it may be concluded that the presence of this plateau is related to the fresh dislocations (or weakly pinned dislocations) produced by cold work. The increase of decrement at the plateau (or maximum) is proportional to the density of fresh dislocations. The investigations of the effects of temperature and aging (200-300℃) on the amplitude-dependent decrement indicated that the decrement decreases with the decrease of temperature and with the increase of aging time, and the position of the maximum shifts to the higher amplitude as the temperature decreases. All the results are discussed in terms of an extension of the GL theory.
