It is established that in the construction and operation of modern blast furnaces the high quality raw materials should be considered as the basis and the saving of coke as the main link in order to bring the capacity of the blast furnace equipment into full play and to ensure a quick return of the capital investment.

The aims of predechromizing hot metal prior to steelmaking are discussed and a method for estimating the practical critical temperature of selective oxidation of Cr is suggested. An optimum temperature programm is proposed for the pretreatment of hot metal in a shaking vessel, which has given good results in laboratory simulating experiments and pilot plant experiments. The effects of shaking the vessel between intermittent O_2 blows is also discussed.

The melting temperatures of certain slags containing chromic oxide have been determined. The presence of 2%Cr_2O_3 decreases the slag formation temperature by 30~80℃, while more than 4% Cr_2O_3 in the slag raises the slag formation temperature to about 1450℃. Thus, if the Cr_2O_3 concentration in the slag is maintained below 4%, it should not be difficult to refine chromium-containing hot metal.

测定了含Cr_2O_3炉渣的成渣温度.渣中含有少量(≈2%)Cr_2O_3,可使成渣温度下降30~80℃,Cr_2O_3含量超过4%,成渣温度又上升到1450℃±.因此在吹炼含铬铁水时,若渣中Cr_2O_3含量控制在4%以下时,吹炼操作不会有困难.在吹炼含铬半钢情况下,若用红砖作助熔剂,同时炉渣成份控制在下列范围内,CaO/SiO_2=3~5,Cr_2O_3<7%, ∑FeO~20%, Al_2O_3≈3%,,成渣温度火致在1280~1360℃.工业试验证明,吹炼操作顺利,渣化得快,化得透.对红砖的助熔作用也作了初步观察.
