Within recent memory, two out of four 255 cubic meter size blast furnaces of metallurgical works in Guangdong Province have their hearth broken out in time of pig iron production. As a consequence, not only finantial, material, and labor losses must have been suffered but also the production programs for those metallurgical plants must have been disarranged as a result of the disasters which were largely arisen from inadequate design and construction for the conventional hearths.In this paper, a novel design plan is proposed for betterment so that the breakout of the hearth incidental to pig iron production can then be avoided. The main features of the design plan being proposed include the choice of complex lining structure of carbon rammed mass and clay bricks for the hearth and the choice of improved cooling method for use in fabrication process. Thus, the life of the hearth can be greatly lengthened and the cost of construction can be brought to a lower limit as compared with that of the conventional ones.

This paper discusses the general picture of systematic energy-saving technology in metallurgical enterprises. In Order to open up the potentialities of energy-saving, it is suggested in this paper that the systematic energy-saving technology in metallurgical enterprises must be popularized and applied as a important way of energy-saving by the metallurgical works. It will play a great role in decreasing the energy consumption in metallurgical enterprises.

冶金企业的系统节能技术是最近几年新形成的节能领域,它是把能源,非能源,系统优化和工艺优化都包括在内的、以科学管理和现代化技术为核心的节能技术。在单体设备能源利用率不断提高,工序能耗不断下降和节能工作难度越来越大的今天,为深挖企业节能潜力,把冶金企业的系统节能技术作为冶金工厂节能重要手段加以推广和应用,必将对我国进一步降低冶金工业能耗起到很大的作用。本文分六个方面论述了冶金企业系统节能技术的概貌。
