The real-time structural damage alarming technology is studied based on wavelet packet analysis. The structural damage alarming is performed by analyzing structural vibrational signals due to fine-time and frequency resolution of wavelet analysis. With respect to damage beams with open cracks, the energy spectrum of the wavelet packet is obtained with an environmental vibration signal by wavelet packet decomposition. The variation index and maximum index of energy spectrum based on the Monte-Carlo method are presented to judge the occurrence of beam cracks. Its advantage is that this new technique requires measured environmental signals without any analysis of the complete structure. The results obtained in the study show that a short crack can be detected effectively and efficiently, and numerical simulations verify the feasibility of the method.

By studying a structure of 3-story frame,the properties of dynamic parameters were investigated when damage occurred in structure.Applying wavelet transform,differential equation of multi-scale structural dynamic was obtained and the parameter recognition of damage identification was analyzed in structural dynamic system.For structural damage identification,it was described that the multi-scale dynamic equation can support more information of structural parameter variety than normal single dynamic equation.According to the feature of calculation of time-variety dynamic system in damage identification,the state space method was introduced to simulate structural damage progress.Finishing numerical simulation and temporal location of structural damage under different excitation load,two key problems were studied to be as follow: the sensitivity of signal of sensors from different location to damage alarming and the affection of frequency component of the excitement loads to distributing of damage information.The study has important significance in theory for reasonably to select sensor location,signal sampling frequency and scale of signal decomposing in structural health monitoring based on wavelet analysis.

The state and observation equations of structural dynamic systems in various analysis scales are derived based on wavelet packet analysis.The time-frequency properties of structural dynamic responses in various scales are then investigated together with the transfer properties of system matrix and observation noise.The theoretical analysis results reveal that structural damage alarming using wavelet packet energy spectrum of the structural dynamic responses has preferable damage sensitivity and noise robusticity.According to the characteristics of instantaneous stimulations,the wavelet packet energy spectrum is obtained using the wavelet packet decomposition of the cross-correlation of stimulation and response signals in time domain,based on which the structural damage alarming index is obtained.Through a vibration testing analysis of a reinforced concrete slab subjected to static loading series,the damage status of the slab during different loading phases are determined and compared with the actual deterioration states.
