The results obtained from various methods are quite different. Based on the measurement and analysis of subgrade reactions under box foundations of seven existing multistory buildings on quaternary period soil and soft soil, reaction distribution curves for different subgrade and different length-width ratio of box foundation are obtained. The coefficients of the subgrade reactions are tabulated for practical use. The results computed by the proposed method are compared with those obtained from other methods. The proposed method is found to be simple and its results are rather close to the existing conditions.
