In this paper, some precursory characteristics of crustal deformation associated with the earthquake of M =6. 1 occurred in the Datong-Yanggao area in October, 1989 have been described and analyzed. The data from twice relevelings carried out 5 years before the earthquake showed that this earthquake occurred in a narrow and longer area which subsided for about 30mm. And in the vicinity of the epicentral area, there were many different active deformation backgrounds. Many short and medium-period anomalous...

In this paper, some precursory characteristics of crustal deformation associated with the earthquake of M =6. 1 occurred in the Datong-Yanggao area in October, 1989 have been described and analyzed. The data from twice relevelings carried out 5 years before the earthquake showed that this earthquake occurred in a narrow and longer area which subsided for about 30mm. And in the vicinity of the epicentral area, there were many different active deformation backgrounds. Many short and medium-period anomalous phenomena from the observations at the crustal deformation stations and points appeared around the epicentral area in a range of 300km, showing the stepwide change of the crustal stress field in these areas. The observational items of deformation possessing precursory features amounted to 1/3 of the total.The above-mentioned facts have show significantly the prediction ability for the earthquakes of M = 6 by making use of the suitable monitoring methods of crustal deformation. Reviews and comparisons between the methods for distinguishing the crustal deformation anomalies have also been made in the paper.

本文分析和综述了1989年10月大同—阳高6.1级地震的各类地壳形变前兆特征。地震前5年内的2次水准复测表明,这次地震发生在一个幅值约为30毫米的狭长的沉降区内,震中区附近存在多处较强的形变差异运动背景。震中区300公里范围内出现了一批可能显示应力场阶段性变化的定点形变中短期异常。有前兆的形变项目约占形变总观测项数的1/3。上述事实充分表明合理的形变监测方法对6级左右地震是有预报能力的。本文还对现有识别形变异常的方法作了比较和讨论。

The precursory characteristics of ground strain before the Liyang earthquake Ms 6.0 on July 9,1979, Sheyang earthquake Ms 5.1 on Feb.17, 1987, Changshu-Taicang earthquake Ms 5.1 on Feb.10, 1990 in Jiangsu Province, China are analysed in this paper. And some questions about the imminent earthquake prediction using the impending earthquake precursor of ground strain are also discussed.

本文分析了发生在江苏省境内的三次地震的地应变临震前兆特征。这三次地震是1979年7月9日溧阳6.0级地震、1987年2月17日射阳5.1级地震和1990年2月10日常熟5.1级地震。在本文中,作者还对利用地应变临震前兆进行临震预报的有关问题作了讨论。
