The applicability of the theory of micropore volume filling, of the equation of Wilkins, and of the Langmuir adsorption equation to the adsorption systems studied was evaluated. The isotherms of adsorption with saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon molecules on monovalent cation exchanged ZSM-5 zeolites were measured. The applicability of the theory of micropore volume filling, of the equation of Wilkins, and of the Langmuir adsorption equation to the adsorption systems studied was evaluated. The theoretical curves were obtained from the experimental data by the least square method with the aid of a computer. The results show that the Langmuir equation is applied satisfactorily to the adsorption systems of cyclohexane both on the hydrogen type and on the ionexchanged type of ZSM-5, but not to other systems. The values of limiting adsorption a_0 calculated from regression equations agree fairly well with the experimental values.The initial heat of adsorption may be calculated from the Wilkins equation with two constants, C_1, and C_2, by which the part of isotherm curve at the lower pressure can be described well. Compared with the other two equations, the theory of micropore volume filling appears to be more satisfactory for the description of adsorption systems studied and so the values of the three physical constants, the limiting adsorption, a_0 distribution order, n, and the characteristic adsorption energy, E, were calculated with it. In addition, this theory gives an evidence that adsorption of benzene and cyclohexane on ZSM-5 modified by alkali ions seems to depend mainly on the dispersion interaction with zeolite surface.

Though the surface-active N(ethylene thiourea), M(2-thiohydroxy benzi-midazole and Sp(polydithiodipropane sodium sulfonate) are commonly used in electroplating of bright copper, their behaviour does not seem to be very clear. The adsorption and polarization of these additives at the surface of polycrystalline copper electrode and their effects on the microstructure and brightness of the copper coating are studied separately.From experimental results, the following conclusions can be obtained:1. At the surface of polycrystalline copper electrode, the additive N, M or Sp has its own characteristic adsorption and the degree of adsorptoni is directly proportional to its concentration.2. The change of differential capacitance of the composite additives N, M and Sp or any two of them is different from the change when any of the additive is used alone.It is accounted for that the adsorption mechanism of composite additives is also different from that of individual additive. This shows the chief adsorption effect in the solution depends on common action action of N, M, Sp, P1(polyethylene glycols) and Cl-.3. Additives N and M have a brightening effect on the copper coating and Sp has the effect of minimizing the crystalline grains of electrode-position. All these are due mainly to the fact that the additives are adsorbed at the surface of the copper electrode and so the polarization of electrod is increased.4. The effect on copper coating of N, M and Sp used together is far superior to that of individual additive and also to that of any two of these additives used. This shows that some complementary adsorption of the composite additives exists.

Two new species of peroxo-compounds of heteropoly acid have been syn- thesized successfully. Peroxo 12-molybdo - phosphoric acid has a composition of P: Mo: O2-2 = 1: 12 : 10, corresponding to the molecular formula H3[PMo12 O30(O2) 10] .XH2O (I ). Peroxo 12-molybdosilicic acid has a composi- tion of Si : Mo: O2-2 = 1 : 12: 8, corresponding to the molecular formula H4[SiMo12O32 (O2),] .XH2O(Ⅱ ). The new synthesis was proceeded in a non-aqueous medium. The oily 12-heteropoly acid ether complex, which was prepared...

Two new species of peroxo-compounds of heteropoly acid have been syn- thesized successfully. Peroxo 12-molybdo - phosphoric acid has a composition of P: Mo: O2-2 = 1: 12 : 10, corresponding to the molecular formula H3[PMo12 O30(O2) 10] .XH2O (I ). Peroxo 12-molybdosilicic acid has a composi- tion of Si : Mo: O2-2 = 1 : 12: 8, corresponding to the molecular formula H4[SiMo12O32 (O2),] .XH2O(Ⅱ ). The new synthesis was proceeded in a non-aqueous medium. The oily 12-heteropoly acid ether complex, which was prepared by the usual method, was gradually added with 30% H2O2 solution. The color changed from yellow, as in the case of heteropoly acid, to orange, as in the case of peroxo species. The new species was washed by pure ether and its composition was analysed- traditionally. In our research some of its properties and infrared spectrum were studied. The (I) species Mo-O-Mo stretching vibration frequencies were present at 500 and 780 cm- l. while the peroxo chain -O-O- characteristic adsorption band present at 920 cm-1. These data were in agreement with what had already been presented in literature [1]. The (Ⅱ) species Mo-O-Mo stretching vibra- tix on frequencies were present at 590 and 780 cm-1, while the peroxo chain -O-O- characteristic adsorption band present at 1090cm-1. This latter datum has never been reported before.
