Many sections of the rolling industry have an interest in the reported possibility of making significant reductions in the rolling load in cold strip rolling by employing work rolls driven at different speeds.The present work attempts to link practical observations and experiences with theory so that more insight can be gained on the mechanism by which the rolling load is reduced and the way some factors affect the process. On the basis of a plane strain compression model,an approximate upper bound solution is proposed together with the numerical solution of the force reduction ratio, Q, based on an approximate analysis of the lower bound type. The latter takes the elastic deformation of the work rolls and the strip into consideration. The results show that the load reduction effect during cross shear rolling can be related to a change in power balance and in the prevailing state of stress. The analytical solutions and numerical calculations are compared with the experimental results obtained by the author and it is found that they are in good qualitative agreement. The effect of rolling force reduction is affected by such parameters as the coefficient of friction μ, the pass reduction r, the roll speed mismatch ratio i and the ratio R/h0(roll radius/thickness). Within certain constraints,a quantitative prediction of Q can also be made by using the proposed models.The present work also attempts to establish the roll pressure distribution characteristics within the cross shear zone via computer-aided numerical solutions for the equilibrium differential equations based on a variable yield stress and a mean yield stress .The results show that Sachs and Klinger's theory predicts too high a pressure rise and that a straight line pressure distribution pattern may be introdued as a reasonable simplification to facilitate roll force calculations. The solutions also indicate that the difference between the specific roll forces S1 and S2 is immaterial from the point of view of engineering calculations. All the experimental and theoretical work was done in the George Alexander Laboratories of the University of Aston, Birmingham, under the supervision of Professor D. H. Sansome.

An investigation was made of the effect of Nb on the retardation of recrystallization of austenite and refinement of ferrite grain size in hot-rolled Nb-containing low-carbon steels. Experiments of hot-rolling by one-pass were performed using 7 kinds vacuummelted steels with various C and Nb contents. The main results obtained are as follows:

本文研究Nb对热轧含Nb低碳钢的Y晶粒再结晶的抑制作用以及对a晶粒细化的影响关系.主要结论为:①抑制轧后Y晶粒再结晶的主要因素是由于受到热变形微细析出到Y基体中去的Nb(C,N)量,即与钢中含有可能形成Nb(C,N)的那部分Nb量有关,而与钢中添加的全部Nb量无直接关系.②钢的含C量对钢在冷却、变形、变形后的Nb(C,N)析出速度没有影响,而随着钢中含Nb量的增加其Nb(C,N)析出速度有所增加.③钢中析出的Nb(C,N)量增加,变形时Y晶粒再结晶的临界压下率也增加,这个影响当变形后的Y晶粒处于部分再结晶状态时比处于完全再结晶状态时要显著得多.④当轧后Y晶粒处于未再结晶状态时,相变后的a晶粒平均晶粒尺寸依赖于有效Y晶界面积的大小.

In this paper, according to the rigid-plastic finite element method we have analized the three dimenssional flow of metal in the rolling by 20 nodals curved hexahedron isoparametric element.The three dimenssional flow velocity fi-eed of metal in the rolling and the deformed Shape of workpiece in steady-state flow have been obtained. The results got from computation have compared with the experiments.

本文根据刚塑性有限单元法,采用20节点曲六面体等参单元对平辊轧制过程进行了分析。求得金属三维流动的速度场,以及在稳态轧制时轧件的外轮廓形状等,并与实验结果进行了比较。
