The fertilized eggs of flat bream, Rhabdosargus sarba were obtained through induced spawning. Under the water temperature of 20.0—21.8℃ and salinity of 32%, the ege cleavage occured 46 minutes after insemination. It took 33 hours and 10 minutes for the first larva to hatch out. The larva started feeding 3 days later and grew to juvenile stage after 9 days. The young fish of 52 days old possessed the main features of the flat bream species.

We studied the relationship between the spermatozoa vitality of flat bream,Rhabdorsargus sarba, and environmental changes. Results shown: 1. Spermatozoa vitality was the highest under the conditions of salinity 25, PH 8.2, and water temperature of 20.2℃; 2. Spermatozoa lost eddying activity after 24 hours storage at low temperature (3-5℃); 3. Injection of HCG did not affect the vitality of spermatozoa.
