The model of allometric growth relationships between area(A) and population (P) of urban systems, A∝P b ,was studied, and the exponent,b,proved to have meaning of fractal dimension,and it was discovered that b=D/2 ,here D is average fractal dimension of city form.The average value of D in an urban system approximate 1.70,so the average value of b should be close to 0.85.The inference have been demonstrated with a number of examples.

A study was made of relationships between area and population of cities and of systems of cities in Henan Province by means of the dynamic similarity model and the fractal geometric model,the former is on allometric growth of urbanizational course in the temporal sense,and the latter related to structure of urban systems in the spatial sense.Some problems were revealed and the ways to solving the problems were pointed out.
