We report herein the effects of varying dietary zinc contents on burns healing in 15% body surface area (BSA) Ⅲ° burned Lop rabbits. 18 adult male rabbits were given a low zinc diet for two weeks, resulting in a decrease of serum zinc concentration which further decreased postburn without restoration. On the contrary, serum was restored rapidly to normal levels in the zinc supplemented groups. Similar changes were found in serum alkaline phosphatase (AKP) activity, and there was a close relationship between serum zinc and serum AKP activity. Burns healing in the high zinc group was markedly faster than that in the low zinc group. These results strongly suggested that zinc might be a factor benefiting burns healing. We concluded that serum AKP activity could be used as a diagnostic criterion of postburn hypozincemia as well as a valid index in the assessment of the effectiveness of supplemented zinc.

Results showed that with increasing of dietary zinc level weight gain increased significantly (P<0.01). High dietary calcium decreased weight gain significantly (P<0.01) at the earlier stage. Serum alkaline phosphatase activity was significantly increased (P<0.01) with increasing dietary zinc level, but decreased (P<0.01) with high dietary calcium.Serum albumin content was higher in zinc supplemented chicks than that of the control (P<0.05). High dietary calcium decreased serum albumin content (P<0.01) but serum globin content increased (P<0.01). Zinc content in liver (P<0.05), kidney (P<0.01), pancreas (P<0.01), tibia (P<0.01) and faecal excreta (P<0.01) increased with increasing dietary zinc. High dietary calcium reduced zinc content in the kidney (P<0.05), lung(P<0.01) and tibia(P<0.05). There was an increase of zinc in the faecal excreta (P<0.05) with high dietary calcium. The results indicated that 29 ppm zinc in corn-soy basal diet did not meet the requirement for chicks to maintain metabolism and development. When the diet contained high level calcium 39 ppm total zinc was not sufficient and 69 ppm total zinc was suggested.

The Zinc supplement experiment was carried out on 20 Holstein-Friesian bulls under zinc deficiency condition (zinc content in the diet was below the 1978 NRC standard level). The result indicated that the post thawing sperm motility and fertilization ability of the frozen semen of the bulls received zinc supplement were increased significantly (p<0.05) , but there were no signifcant effects on the mophological structure nor on abnormality rate of three months after zinc supplement.

对20头日粮中锌含量低于NRC(1978)标准的黑白花种公牛进行补锌试验。补锌3个月显著提高了种公牛冷冻精液的解冻活率,受精能力,但精子的形态和畸形率没有显著的变化。
