The high sediment contents do not increace the radiance values in the TM4 band. In the de part of Jiaozhou Bay, the suspended sediment contents are lower, but the radiance values in the TM4 band are higher, the sediment appears bright. So the radiance values in the TM4 band do not repmt the sediment contents and dcyths. They give only information on the an surface roughness or an state.The cloud of smoke from the Qingdao electric power plant moving 7- 8km in NNE Direction can be am in the color composite image. It is obvious that the wind was theng, about 5- 6 grade.In Jiaozhou Bay's eastern part, the wind was in the same diedon as that of the wave movement. The wind blew on the an surface over a long distance. The an surface was rough. In the ontral and Westem part of Jiaothou Bay, the wind dedon diffed from that of the wave movefnent When the wind blew on the an surface for a shond distance, the as de was smoother.The research led to the following concinsions TM4 hage gave infonnahon on an surface roughness or an state' It is possible to study the an state usng near infrared image.
