The paper deals with the methods of determining and measuring parameters of rheologic characteristics of dense-media suspensions, the law of motion of mineral particles in such suspensions and the influence of rheologic parameters on the separation of mineral row material.The methods of measurement employed by the writer can be used to determine the rheologic parameters having physical significance-the rheologic viscosity. In dense medium coal cleaning process, the main reason why final products entrain dense medium is poor fluidity of dense medium suspensions caused by excessive volume concentration of water - solid phase of the suspensions, in essence, too much of coal slime in it. Discussion is conducted in the paper on some problems found in large three - product cyclones fed with no pressure used in some coal preparation plant, such as actual production capacity failing to reach the performance required in design, dense medium suspensions fed at higher in let pressure with larger circulating amount and imperfect of process control system. And some consideration for improvement of the problems are put foreward in the paper.
