Diamines (DA) and epoxy resins (EP) were chosen to modify common 4,4′ bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BMI) for composites matrix application. Influence of various molecular structure, content of DA and EP on properties of modified BMI resins and fiber composites was studied in this paper. The results shown that 4,4′ diaminodiphenylmethane is not suited for using as chain extended agent of BMI/DA/EP systems, and 4,4′ diaminodiphenylsulfone modified BMI resin has higher heat resistance than 4,4′ diaminodiphenylether modified, but soluability of their prepolymers in acetone is opposite. Higher molar ratio of BMI/DA leads to higher heat resistance, but lower toughness and worse soluability in acetone, BMI resins modified with different EP structure have similar heat resistance, but EP structure influences greatly the heat resistance and toughness of BMI modified EP resins. Increase of content of EP results in increase of toughness, improvement of processability, but decrease of heat resistance of modified resins. BMI resins modified with 20% ̄30% EP have higher heat resistance, since heat distortion temperatrue of their resin casts is above 280 ℃, and residual percent of flexural strength and intralaminar shear strength of their composites at 150 ℃,200 ℃ and 250 ℃ are all higher than that of common heat resistant composites.

Using low cost Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 fiber as reinforced phase, ZL109 alloy composites were made by squeeze casting. The composites and ZL109 alloy were accelerated ageing at different temperatures, and then examined by compression test.
