In this paper a structural element model for the strength of solids is proposed. In this model, a solid is considered to be composed of structural elements at different structural levels. The strength between elements depends on the internal bonding energy per unit volume (internal body energy). By using this model, the order of magnitude of strength of a solid can be estimated.The strength of a solid is shown to be inversely proportional to the maximum size of its structural elements and directly proportional...

In this paper a structural element model for the strength of solids is proposed. In this model, a solid is considered to be composed of structural elements at different structural levels. The strength between elements depends on the internal bonding energy per unit volume (internal body energy). By using this model, the order of magnitude of strength of a solid can be estimated.The strength of a solid is shown to be inversely proportional to the maximum size of its structural elements and directly proportional to the specific interface bonding energy expressed in energy per unit volume (external body energy), and the relation between external and internal energies may serve as the theoretical basis of material technology, measurements and experiments.The brittleness of plasticity of a solid is shown to be dependent on the relation between the attractive potential and the shear potential in the solid. If a potential pool ex ists, the solid would be plastic, otherwise, brittle.The principle of formati three main states of solid matter on the earth, namely, fog-like, condensed and loosely compacted, is also discussed.

An experimental installation of channeling backscattering is described. Using channel backscattering method, study on the measurement of radiation defect, analysis of surface components, and analysis of the defect of foreign bosy extensional layer are carried out, and have achieved some results meaning full to semiconductor material technology and integrated circuit.
