Series of sedimentary hydrothermal-diplogenetic copper deposits have been found scattering in the region along the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and their metallogenetic mechanism is still in hot debate.
      


In the Dabaoshan polymetallic deposit, the magmatic rocks related to mineralization mainly include subdacite porphyry dykes of early Yanshanian age (K-Ar age 143—166 m.y.) and granodiorite porphyry stocks of late Yanshanian age (K-Ar age 97—101 m.y.). Both porphyries are considered to be the products of differentiation and evolution of a consanguineous magma during the Yanshanian time.It has been proposed since the 1970s that the deposit is of stratabound or sedimentary-hydrothermal reformation origin....

Both porphyries are considered to be the products of differentiation and evolution of a consanguineous magma during the Yanshanian time.It has been proposed since the 1970s that the deposit is of stratabound or sedimentary-hydrothermal reformation origin. In recent years, based on a detailed geological and geochemical study of the deposit, it is confirmed that the polymetallic deposit is a porphyry-type deposit genetically related to the Dabaoshan subdacite porphyry. The evidence may be summed up as follows:1. The polymetallic orebodies occur in the Dabaoshan subdacite porphyry dike and in the vicinity of the contact zones. The main ore types are chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite ore or chalcopyrite-pyrite-pyrrhotite ore. The metallic mineral associations are in the main the same, and the associated metals of the ores from the bottom to the top of the same ore bed (or body) are similar, too. The primary halos of ore-forming elements (Cu, Pb, Bi, Ag, etc.) are distributed in the Dabaoshan subdacite porphyry dike.2. Pyrite (or pyrrhotite) in ores that occur in different poritions all has a high copper content (383—1520 ppm), a very close Se/Te ratio (0.5—0.7) and Co/Ni ratio averaging 2.58, which are similar to those in the Tongchang porphyry copper deposit, Jiangxi, but evidently different from those in the sedimentary and stratabound pyrite and lead-zinc deposits in central and southern Hunan.3. The δS~(34) values of pyrite and other metals vary from -2 to +2 per mil and the δS~(34) values of mineralizing fluids vary from 0 to +2 per rail. The δS~(34) values of metal sulfides for ores from different parts are very close.4. The mineralizing fluids show δO_(H_2O)~(18) values ranging from + 0.26 to + 7.58 per mil, so they should be derived from an admixture of magmatic water and meteoric water.5. The lead isotopic composition of the ores from different positions is close, but obviously different from that of the stratabound lead-zinc deposit in the Devonian of northern Guangdong. All the calculated model ages but one, which is negative, range from 40 to 125 m.y., being close to the age of the subdaite porphyry in the mining area.

作者认为,桃林铅锌矿床位于区域向斜的北翼,赋存在上震旦统陡山沱组和灯影组层位中,地层与构造控制明显,属沉积-热液改造型萤石铅锌矿床.在此认识的基础上,圈出了3个找矿预测区,并对坳背屋找矿预测已设计深部验证工程,施工9个钻孔,均见工业矿体.
