Objective To discuss the relationship between disease progress with the change of cell im munological function as well as the effect of immunological function in severe a cute respiratory syndrome. Methods Retrospective study was designed to analyze the relationship of disease progres s with the change of immunological function. According to the disease outcomes, the patients are divided into two groups: died group and survival group. The dif feren ce of immunological function in groups was performed statistics analysis. Results Immunological function (CD3 +, CD4 +, CD8 +) descended to the lowest level in period of fastigium in SARS patient, and then recovery quickly. Comparison of died grou p and survival group was found that Immunological function (CD3 +T, CD4 +T, CD 8 +T) were lower in period of fastigium and recovery in died group than in survival g roup(P <0.001 ). Conclusion Immunological function was affected by SARS infec tion, but transiently in most cases. Only a minor of dead cases displayed irreve rsible inhibition of immune function.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of therapy of integrated Chinese medicine with western medicine on severe a-cute respiratory syndrome. Method: 112 cases of SARS from 11 March to 30 April, 2003 were analyzed. Results: 73 cases were treated with the therapy of integrated Chinese medicine with western medicine in which 51 cases (58%) were cured and no death occurred in 60 mild cases. 9 cases (69.2%) were cured and 2 cases died in 13 severe cases. Aim: To evaluate the effect of therapy of integrated Chinese medicine with western medicine on severe a-cute respiratory syndrome. Method: 112 cases of SARS from 11 March to 30 April, 2003 were analyzed. Results: 73 cases were treated with the therapy of integrated Chinese medicine with western medicine in which 51 cases (58%) were cured and no death occurred in 60 mild cases. 9 cases (69.2%) were cured and 2 cases died in 13 severe cases. 目的:分析中西医结合治疗严重急性呼吸综合征的疗效。方法:对2003年3月11日~4月30日在我院住院治疗的112例SARS患者进行分析。结果:中西医结合治疗73例,其中普通型60例,治愈51例(85%),无1例死亡;重型13例,治愈9例(69.2%),死亡2例。西药治疗39例,其中普通型20例,治愈13例(65%);重型19例,死亡9例(47.4%),与中西医结合治疗相比较,差异具有显著性(P<0.05)。免疫功能检测:中西医结合治疗后,普通型病人CD_4~+T淋巴细胞由324±179/mm~3上升到786±360/mm~3(P<0.05),重型患者CD_4~+T由357±311/mm~3上升到445±332/mm~3(P<0.05)。单纯西药治疗组:普通型病人CD_4~+T淋巴细胞由343±254/mm~3上升到451±408/mm~3(P<0.05),重型患者CD_4~+T淋巴细胞由229±69/mm~3下降到205±108/mm~3(P>0.05)。结论:与单纯西药治疗相比较,中西医结合治疗能显著改善SARS患者的预后,降低患者的死亡率;同时能帮助患者恢复免疫功能。
