A chemical recovery boiler is a special boiler utilizing kraft black liquor as its fuel to produce both steam and alkali. Process control of a recovery boiler is identical to that of a normal power boiler in some respects and different in other respects. Optimization of combustion appears to rely on the control of the air draft introduced into the furnace. Such a control can be materialized through the installation of an on-line CO sensor based on infrared absorption. The CO sensor is linked to a computer.In such a way, the air/fuel ratio can be adjusted to give optimum performance. Close attention has to be given to the soot-blowing operation in a recovsry boiler.Proper control in this respect is a prerequisite for cutting down alkali dust in the flue gas. Then conies the monitoring of the height of the smelting bed.In this case, a closed circuit video system is employed.Feed back control has not yet been practised in this respect. Monitoring of black liquor feed,green liquor production and "black-out" of smelting bed etc. appear to be prospective targets for further process control.

碱炉燃烧麦草浆黑液时存在浓度和发热值低、粘度高的难点,提高供风温度是有效的解决办法。它可以强化炉内黑液干燥并实现无辅助燃料正常燃烧。对碱炉烟气-空气预热器不同的布置以及采取不同进风温度进行分析比较,认为采用空气预热器在前、卧式省煤器在后、进风温度50~80℃为最佳方案。
