The results show that. to avoid from or fight against seasonal draught in eastern hilly red soil region of SouthChina,the soil water management should aim at ameliorating red soil structure and improvingrelationship of soil and climate through proper soil management techniques and establishingproper land use systems in order to use deep water in the soil. Besides, agroforestry tech-niques and mulching with minimum tillage have exerted a profound effect on the adjustmentof soil water regime.

The documentary records about forest, agricultural harvest and sand dune status, as well as the fossil pollen evidence from the neighboring regions,are generally in favor for the above explanation.A possible mechanics for the rainfall increase is the rise of summer temperature over Eurasia as a whole,which leads to a more vigor summer monsoon circulation in the temperate East Asia.

The number of cotton bollworm(CBW) and it's natural enemies were investigated in three different kinds of cotton fields with over used pesticides or with less frequently used pesticides or rarely used pesticides.The history of applying chemical pesticides to control the CBW in Henan cotton region was analyzed by combining with the investigation data.It is found that the chemical pesticides have double effects,which reduce the population density temporarily and lead to the resurgence of CBW,consequently,increase the insecticide resistance markedly.The resurgence accompanied with the applying of chemical pesticides in the sign of increase of insecticide resistance.Under suitable host plants and climate condition,CBW can have outbreak after developing a high level resistance to the main kinds of chemical insecticide had this research result is useful for the long and medium term forecast of CBW and the proper use of chemical pesticides.

通过对频繁使用化学杀虫剂和不用或少用化学杀虫剂棉田虫情的系统调查 ,结合河南省棉区应用化学杀虫剂防治棉铃虫的经历分析 ,认为化学杀虫剂有暂时控制棉铃虫种群密度和刺激其再猖獗、进而导致抗药性突增的双重作用。再猖獗伴随化学杀虫剂的应用随时发生 ,是抗药性突增的前奏。棉铃虫对主治农药产生抗性后 ,人为和自然控制的效果极差 ,在寄主和大气候适宜的条件下将暴发成灾。可为棉铃虫灾变的中、长期预测预报和合理使用化学杀虫剂提供有益的参考。
