An extraction spectrophotometric method for determination of gold has been developed based on forming gold (Ⅰ)-bromine(Ⅰ)-crystal violet ion association complex which is soluble in benzene. The absorption maximum of the complex is at 600 nm with molar absorptivity ε=6.8×10~4. Combining separation method with foamed polyaminorein, the method is directly used to determine of gold in 0.5%Na_2S_2O_3 elution. In the given condition, thallium and antimony do not interfere with gold determination. The standard deviation of the method for less than 3g/t level of gold is less than 0.3g/t. The relative standard deviation for 3—20g/t level of gold is less than 15%.

The molar ratio of CSF to HCSDAA in the complex is found to be 1: 1. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentraction range of 2 × 10-6 ~1.0 ×10-4 mol·L-1 for CSF. Most of the common metal ions and anions do not interfere .The application potential of chromogenic reaction for the determination of CSF anionic surfactants is discussed.
