The chemical exchange systems of CO/aqueous solution of Cu2Cl2·8NH4C1, abbreviated as COCO, and CO2/carbamate in enrichment of 13C were compared using identical experimental devices. The results indicate that the latter system is better than the former, and can be used to produce highly concentrated 13C.

The separation capability of the cascade is determined as a function of the flow which ranges from 1 to 7ml/cm~2·min. The largest separation capability F_(max)= 2.3mg atom C/cm~3·min corresponds to the flow L=6.3ml/cm~2·min. The cascade has undergone operation test for three years, and the average relaxation time of each flow test was5.5 months. In the cascade natural CO_2 containing 1.1 atom per cent ~(13)C was enriched to 98·87 atom per cent ~(13)C through five concentration columns and the products of ~(13)C whose concentration was over 98.6% were obtained. The fact that this process can conveniently, reliably and directly produce highly enriched ~(13)C has been proved. The cascade is efficient in separating ~(13)C—the average theoretical plate numbers per meter of the cascade are equal to 40.5 plates/m at L=1ml/cm~2·min because a new efficient packing, rectangular section spiral winding, which differs from Helipak has been used, and the problem in respect of calculating flow for any columns has been solved, which allows us to arrange the contraction rate of intercolumnar flow correctly.

A new cascade method for studying isotope effect in chemical exchange system without valance change is developed and described. This method is simple to use and consumes less extractant as compared with the commonly used Woodward method. It is also convenient for unstable systems.

本文提出了研究不变价化学交换体系同位素效应的一种新级联实验方法,该方法是对Wood-ward法的一种改进。
