In the 17th year after the founding of New China. the institute was renamed the liurthuand Relics institute under the directmanagement of the Relics Bureau of the Ministry of Culture. The institute had 50-60 staff members. They made great achievements in theprotection and copying of murals, laying a good foundation for further research on grotto art. In the 13 years since China’s reform and openingto the outer world, the institute has been enlarged and renamed the Dunhuang Research institute. with the policy Protection. Research andDevelopment". the institute has more than 120 staff members. It has become the biggest research unit of Dunhuangology in the world. Now theprotection work in the institute has been modernized. It has stepped into the field of international cooperation on the basis of self-reliance. In this article, the author belieyed that the Chinese Crottoe art was not only long standing and well established, but also broad and profound, which the lndian Buddist art was too inferior to bear comparison. Qiuci Grotteo art, the origin of Buddist Grotteo art, should be firstlyunderstood. Starting from this point of view, the author expounded the Model of Qiuci Grotto art.
