In this paper,the generalized definition of niche suggested by theauthor is furthur extended.Differences between resource states andniche,between resource states and samples,and between niche overlapand competition coefficients are discussed.The mechanism of interspecificcompetition is re-analysed to offer a new approach to understanding theprinciple of competition exclusion.
