The apparatus with the temperature controlling accuracy of 0. 05 ℃ is developed. Based on the above devices, the system of extracavity SHG of argon laser is obtained successfully. The ultraviolet coherent light with the wavelength of 257. 3 nm is obtained from the fundamental wavelength of 514. 5 nm. The high frequency holographic gratings can be fabricated by using this kind of ultraviolet light source.
