From 1994 to 1998, we studied the effects of irrigation and compound fertilizer application on soil water and soil nutrient status, and on growth and shoot yield of Phyllostachys pubescens established in 1990 in south-east Queensland, Australia.

As is expounded in this paper, the ammoniac nitrOgen form in ureaammonium phosphate complex fertilizer was determined by means of an ammoniac electrode, the second standard addition method and the multiincrement homograph for measurement of ionic activities. For the determination of ammonic nitrogen form that coexists with urea, this method is simple, fast and widely applicable. Its higher degree of accuracy and precision are guaranteed.
