This is a continuation of a previous study (Li, L. Y, et al. 1951, Fukien Agr. Jour., 12(3, 4): 107-112) on the outdoor culture of straw mushroom in Fukien. The present work includes: (1) investi- gations on the analysis of fresh Fukien grown straw mushroom, (2) isolation and culture of Volvaria esculenta and our trials in using pure-culture spawns to grow mushroom, and (3) preliminary obser- vations made on the environmental requirements of Volvaria esculcnta The results are briefly summarized as...

This is a continuation of a previous study (Li, L. Y, et al. 1951, Fukien Agr. Jour., 12(3, 4): 107-112) on the outdoor culture of straw mushroom in Fukien. The present work includes: (1) investi- gations on the analysis of fresh Fukien grown straw mushroom, (2) isolation and culture of Volvaria esculenta and our trials in using pure-culture spawns to grow mushroom, and (3) preliminary obser- vations made on the environmental requirements of Volvaria esculcnta The results are briefly summarized as follows: 1. Our analytical work shows that the straw mushroom con- tains 92. 39% water, 206. 275mg. of ascorbic acid in 100g. of fresh mushroom, 2. 6024% sugar, 2. 6603% protein, 2. 2406% oil, and 0. 9118% ash. 2. Pure cultures of Volvaria esculenta could be readily obtained by innoculation with spores from fresh unopened mushroom. Cultures grow well on potato, corn, rice and rice-kernel husk media. 3. By employing pure-culture spawns, it takes only ten days for the first appearance of mushroom after spawnning while it takes three weeks usually if mixed cultures are used instead. The total period of mushroom production is likewise prolonged by the use of pure-culture spawns. 4. Preliminary observations indicate an atmospheric tempera- ture of 70°to 80°F., and a humidity of above 80% are favorable for the growth of straw mushroom. Production of mushroom stops when the atmospheric temperature falls below 70°F. The period of outdoor culture in Fcochow is from the latter part of April till the end of October.

The investigations were designed to determine:(1)the changes of the total serum protein,serum electrophoretic pattern and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)and the time of their occurrence in infected rabbits;(2)the correlation between the change of ESR and serum electrophoretic pattern in the infected rabbits; (3)the relationship between the change of ESR or serum electrophoretic pattern and histopathological pictures in the infected rabbits;and(4)the main role played by schistosoma ova and culture...

The investigations were designed to determine:(1)the changes of the total serum protein,serum electrophoretic pattern and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)and the time of their occurrence in infected rabbits;(2)the correlation between the change of ESR and serum electrophoretic pattern in the infected rabbits; (3)the relationship between the change of ESR or serum electrophoretic pattern and histopathological pictures in the infected rabbits;and(4)the main role played by schistosoma ova and culture fluid from adult worm in the production of reactive changes in normal rabbits. The result showed that the ESR began to increase on the 5th week after infection. From the 6th to the 12th weeks,the increase continued gradually.Such an increase correlated closely with the histopathological pictures of the liver,such as apparent round cell infiltration and proliferation of the bile ducts in the portal tract.It was presumed that these changes formed the pathological basis of the accelerated ESR. Six weeks after infection,the total serum protein increased from 6.3±0.2g/100 ml to 7.8±0.4 g/100 ml,the serum albumin decreased from 67.7±0.03% to 51.4± 4.5%,the α,β and γ globulin increased from 12.1±0.7%,6.4±1.0% and 13.9± 0.3% to 14.1±2.1%,10.8±1.1% and 23.8±3.8% respectively.The histopatholo- gical changes observed,such as liver cell damage,swelling of Kupffer cell,increase of plasma cells in the liver,spleen and lymph nodes,might be correlated with the altera- tion of serum electrophoretie pattern,as a result of the reduced formation of albumin by the damaged liver cells and also of the increased formation of globulin by the stimulation of the reticuloendothelial system. There was a close correlation between the acceleration of ESR and the decrease of serum albumin or the increase of serum globulin during the whole course of the infection. In the rabbits receiving injections of culture fluid from paired adult worms no significant change except the tendency of an increase in the ESR was observed.In the rabbits receiving injections of schistosoma ova the ESR increased markedly on the following day after injection;the serum albumin decreased from 69.8±3.5% to 55.1±1.1%;the α,α and γ globulin increased from 11.7±1.1%,8.6±1.9% and 10.0±2.5% to 18.6±1.3%,12.2±1.4% and 14.2±2.0% in the 4 days after infection respectively.The histopathological picture in the former group was similar to that observed in experimental schistosomiasis prior to ova deposition;while in the latter group,it was similar to that observed after the maturation of ova. From the above findings,it may be concluded that the mature ova of S.japonicum play an important role in the pathologico-physiological reaction in infected rabbits, while the metabolic products secreted by the paired adult worms should also be taken into consideration.

本文就家兔感染日本血吸虫病后所引起的机体反应及组织病理变化的主要发病因子进行了探讨。结果发现家兔在注射40对/8毫升成虫培养液后,除血沉有加速趋势外,血清蛋白组成部分的变化不明显。组织病理变化与家兔感染150条尾蚴后血吸虫产卵前的相似。家兔在注射40—60万虫卵(其中成熟虫卵约占40%)后出现血沉加速,血清白蛋白减少和α、β及γ球蛋白增加。组织病理变化与家兔感染150条尾蚴后5—6周、即虫卵成熟后所引起的酷似。结论认为虫卵、特别是成熟虫卵是血吸虫病发病学中的主要因子,但成虫代谢产物对机体的影响也不容忽视。对血沉与血清蛋白组成变化间及其与组织病理变化间的相互关系及发生机制进行了讨论。

Plagiognathops microlepis Bleeker,an economic freshwater fish (Xenocyprininae,Cyprinidae) widely distributed in China,is a favorite with our broad masses,but itsnatural population is not large and the yield of this fish is low in many waters.As a result of our experimentation and research,now we can successfully conductartificial propagation and culture of this fish on a large scale.We have already stoc-ked a reservoir with a large number of its sizable fingerlings,in anticipation of inc-reasing yield in the coming years.For pond-farming,it has been demonstrated that the participation of Plagiog-nathops in polyculture with the team of“domestic”carps does not interfere with thenormal growth of the latter,and the total yield of a pond is actually increased byabout 10%.The fish is easy to catch (by seining);this makes it a desirable objectfor the practice of recurrent stocking and“skimming”within a year in ponds in-tended for bumper yield.The juveniles as well as the adults of Plagiognathops feed on humus,bottomdetritus and benthic algae,which are not much utilized by the traditional“domestic”fishes.Growth rate of Plagiognathops is rather high during the first two years of life:young fish 6 months of age weigh about 100—150 g,those of 18 months old,above250 g (450 g for the largest specimen);the average weight of 2-year-old individuals is500 g,a size ready for the market.Owing to its tastiness and relatively more edibleparts,fish even of the grade of 100—150 g are readily acceptable to customers.The principal results of our experiments on the rearing of this fish,togetherwith the relevant biological data obtained,are given in this paper.

细鳞斜颌鲴是在我国分布较广而又为群众所喜爱的一种野生经济鱼类。这种鱼在某些天然水体中可成为优势种群,产量较大,最高可以占总渔获量的50%以上。但有许多水体中却没有这种鱼或数量不大。通过试验和研究,我们已能对这种鱼进行大规模的人工繁殖和苗种培育,近年来,已将数万尾大规格鱼种投放到一原来只投放“家鱼”(泛指鲩、青、鲢、鳙,以下均同)的水库中,并将检验其增产效果。实践证明斜颌鲴在池塘中与现有“家鱼”混养时,非但不影响“家鱼”的生长,并可使池塘总产量增加10%以上;原因是这种鱼主要以其他养殖鱼类尚未利用或未能充分利用的腐屑、腐泥和着生藻类为食物。该鱼头两年生长较快,两周年可达一市斤左右,并第一次达到性成熟,这种规格的鱼上市就是经济价值高的优良食用鱼。因其在池塘中易于捕捞,故也是丰产塘中轮捕轮放的好对象。按普通“家鱼”种的培育方法当年鱼可养成4寸左右,第二年底都能在半斤以上,大的可达8两半。由于该鱼头小肉多而味美,故即使2—3两重的鱼在市场上也受到顾客的欢迎。本文还介绍了养殖这种鱼的方法及其有关的生物学资料,并讨论了在天然水体中促使这种鱼增产的可能途径。
