Studies were carried out both in greenhouse and in the field,by inoculating 77-11(Race T)of Cochliobolus heterostrophus Drechsler to seedling and ear of male-sterile lines of corn with different cytoplasms.It was found that 15 male-sterile lines were resistant and 21 were sus-ceptible.The resistant sources were cms-C,“Shuang 26A”and“Tangxu”(i.e.cms-S),while cms-T and its near relative were susceptible.

T4343 which containsthe T type male sterile cytoplasm, and the toxin produced is highly specific andonly injures protoplasts of var. T4343, but not N type maintenance line cyto-plasm of var. N4343.H turcicum is the contrary to H. maydis race T. It infects N4343 seriously inthe field, and filtrate of its culture seriously injures protoplasts of N4343 only, where-as protoplasts from T4343 is injured but slightly. Similarly, the preparation totoxin from H maydis race T stimulates the activity of PAL sharply in var. T4343,but not in var. N4343, while the toxin from H.turcicum stimulates the activity ofPAL in N4343, but not in T4343.But, when seedling of var. T4343 and var. N4343 grown in the dark are ex-posed to red light, to bring about an increase of PAL activities, no difference hasbeen observed. Thus it is considered that the increase of PAL activities inducedby red light and by toxins is effected through different mechanisms.

供试材料包括35个已知其不育胞质所属类群的不育系、17个待鉴定不育胞质类型的品系、200个用这些不育系和不同自交系测交的杂交种。研究结果表明,这些不育系对小斑病T小种毒素的反应、育性的表现和遗传及对环境条件的反应是不同的。在试验研究资料的基础上,提出了一种简便准确的玉米不育细胞质综合鉴定分类方法。
