Methods of artifical insemination of the domestic ducks (Peking Ducks or South China Ducks) and the domestic muscovy ducks are described in this paper. Methods of artifical insemination of the domestic ducks (Peking Ducks or South China Ducks) and the domestic muscovy ducks are described in this paper. The methods consist of three processes, collection of semen, dilution, and artificial insemination. Using these methods it is possible to obtain not only fertile eggs from the insemination of ducks of the same species, but also hybrid ducks from the reciprocal crosses of the domestic ducks and the domestic muscovy ducks.Several dilutors were used in the artificial inseminatian experiments. They were: 3-N dilutor, Ringer's solution, normal saline, albumen, yolk-sodium citrate solution and 6% glucose solulion. Among these dilutors tested, the 3-N dilutor was found to be the best.The fertility of South China ducks insemianted with the semen of Peking Ducks diluted to 20 times with 3-N dilutor of pH 7.7 was 55.6% (3 days av.), When the semen were diluted to 25 times, the fertility was 33.5-42.5% (3 days av.), and 28.5% (5 days av.).The fertility of South China Ducks inseminated with the semen of the muscovy ducks diluted to 10 times with 3-N dilutor of pH 7.7 was 42.4% (3 days av.). This was almost the same as the fertility using semen of Peking Ducks diluted to 25 times. This fertility could not be raised even the semen were less diluted.The fertility could not be noticeably raised by using semen kept at 35-38°C. aften colletion during winter. Conversely, too long preservation at such a temperature would decrease the viability of the spermatozoa and thus lowered the fertility.

After a general consideration for the process of @π+-photoproduction from proton, starting from the Mandelstam representation and using further the Cini-Fubini approximation, we derive the formulas for the isoscalar part of π-photoproduction amplitudes. According to new data on electromagnetic structure of nucleon, we c' oose the parameters of I=I=1 resonance of π-π interaction to be tr = 22, av = 1.52, bv = 1.60, and calculate and angular distributions at three energies. The results show that after introducing the π-π interaction the fit to the experiment is much improved over the results obtained by Cew et al. The coupling constant of γ+π→π + π is determined to be about ∧≈- 2.8 e, which is roughly consistent with the current results.

A new approximate method for treating nn and pp pairing force in nuclei is presented. A new approximate method for treating nn and pp pairing force in nuclei is presented. In this method the difficulties connected with the application of BCS-Bogolubov method to nuclei such as the non-conservation of the number of particles, the apperance of spurious states, and non-orthogonality between wave functions of different excited states are avoided. But the method can be conviently adopted only when the number of particles n and the number of levels Ω considered are small (n ≤10, Ω≤10 ). Also the approximation of this method is good onlv under such conditions. In this method the many-body nature of the excitation is displayed explicitly without introducing the conception of quasi-particles. The excitation of the system can be divided into two classes. The first class of excitation is a kind of single particle excitation embedded in a many-body system under the action of the pairing force. This would correspond to the excitation of a single quasi-particle a_v~+av0 or to two quasi-particle excitation of the type α_v~+β_(v')~+,α_v~+α_v'~+(v'±v) etc. in the BCS-Bogolubov method. The second class of excitation is a pair excitation in which the distribution of the conjugated pairs of particles among the levels is altered. This type of excitation would correspond to superposition of quasi-particle excitations of the type α_v~+β_v~+,α_v~+β_v~+α_μ~+β_μ~+, Also examined is the effect of pairing force on the β- and γ-transition probability in the new formalism. In general, β-transition is retarded by the pairing force while in γ-transition the effect of pairing force varies according to the nature of the relative excitation between the initial and final states. When the relative excitation is of the first class, the transition is retarded to various extent, depending on the nature of the γ-transition. If the relative excitation is of the second class, the transition is forbidden when the pairing force is not in action, and is allowed only for electric transition arising from the charge-current distribution when the pairing force is present. Finally this method is applied to investigate the effect of pairing force on the intrinsic spectra and β-transition in 72Hf178 as an example.
