IR spectra show typical water absorption and characteristic absorption peaks of 5109, 5274 and 5448cm -1 in the range of 5000~5500cm -1 as well as only one peak of 3701cm -1 in the range of 3400~4000cm -1 . Typical dreg inclusions, bertrandite crystalized inclusions, two phase inclusions and regular growth line are discovered in the crystal. Other properties of the new type of Guilin hydrothermal synthetic emerald are similar to those of Linde, Biron and Tairus hydrothermal emeralds.

The gemmological characters of hydrothermal synthetic yellow sapphire from Guilin has been studied. The morphology, surface microtopographs and inclusions of synthetic yellow sapphire have been investigated. It has been confirmed that the infrared absorption in the range of 3500~2800cm -1 by OH or Al—OH stretch contract vibration are important evidence for identifying synthetic yellow sapphire.

对新近生长的桂林水热法合成黄色蓝宝石的宝石学特征进行了初步研究 ,并对这种合成黄色蓝宝石晶体的生长形态和表面微形貌特征作了剖析 ,阐述了该合成宝石内部发育的各种内含物特征。指出在 350 0~2 80 0 cm-1范围内 ,由 OH或 Al— OH伸缩振动致红外吸收光谱是鉴别该类合成宝石的重要依据
