Moreover, there was the significant difference among the above mentioned targets. Therefore, we thought that the parameter that stand for the nuclear of acanthoid cell layer can turn into the reference basis that reflect the lesion degree of oral squamous epithelium. Meanwhile, we thought that the parameter that stand for the cell of acanthoid cell layer can become the reference basis that reflect the lesion degree of oral squamous epithelium too.

Conclusion HLA-DR might be as a marker of the genesis and development of OSCC and may be a helpful marker to determine the malignant degree and prognosis of OSCC.

Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of metastasis suppressor gene Kai1 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Method: The expression of Kai1/CD82 protein was detected by immunohistochemistry in 39 primary OSCC without metastasis、28 primary OSCC with metastasis including their respective lymph node metastases、23 oral leukoplasia and 12 normal oral squamous epithelia adjacent to tumours. Result: The positive rates of Kai1/CD82 protein in normal、leukoplasias、primary OSCC without and with metastasis and lymph node metastasis group were 100%(12/12)、86.9%(20/23)、69.6%(23/39)、28.6%(8/28)and 7.14%(2/28)respectively. The expression of Kai1/CD82 protein had no statistical difference between leukoplakias and normal group(P>0.05),but it was dramatically reduced in other three groups in contrast to normal group with statistical significances(P<0.05). Kai1/CD82 protein expression in primary OSCC with metastasis group was lower than that in primary OSCC without metastasis group(P<0.05), which was reduced even more significantly in lymph node metastasis(P<0.05).There was no correlation between Kai1/CD82 expression and age、sex、pTNM stages of tumour and differentiation(P>0.05). Conclusion: The down-regulation of Kai1 gene expression is correlated dramatically with metastasis of OSCC ,and it may be an good index for predicting the metastatic potential of OSCC in clinic.
