The characteristics of high order relativistic harmonic generation excited by intense laser pulse in underdense plasmas is inverestigated. With quasistatic approximation, the growth and saturation of N th order relativistic harmonics are analyzed, and the ratio of high order power to fundamental wave power is described and calculated.

By using the full-core plus correlation (FCPC) wave functions, the fine-structure splittings of the lithium-like 1s 22p states from Z=3 to 15 are calculated. Our results are in excellent agreement with experimental data in the literature. The variations of the contributions to the fine-structure splitting from QED and higher-order relativistic effects, as functions of the nuclear charge Z along the lithium isoelectronic sequence, are quantitatively obtained.

In the paraxial approximation, a potential well also exists for laser spot size. HOR effect decreases the amplitude of laser spot size oscillation, whereas accelerates its rate. Furthermore, it prevents the singularity of infinite intesity of laser beam when laser power is greater than (or equal to) the relativistic critical power. The condition of balance-solution of the beam spot size is also given.
