Ament's expressions on momentum density equation and motion equation in suapensions are modified for the effect of hydrodynamic interaction and electric interaction of suspension particles in sound field. These results show that there is a distinct dispersion effect in kaolinite suspensions and the absorption coefficient...

Ament's expressions on momentum density equation and motion equation in suapensions are modified for the effect of hydrodynamic interaction and electric interaction of suspension particles in sound field. The expression for the effective density of suspensions is derived. We calculate phase velocty of sound and absorption coefficient in suspensions with the effective density. These results show that there is a distinct dispersion effect in kaolinite suspensions and the absorption coefficient is a nonlinear function of particle volume concentration. The absorption coefficient rises rapidly with increase in volume concentration, reaches a maximum value near 17% volume concentration, and then decreases with further increase in volume concentration. The Frequency dependence of absorption coefficient is described by f" (1.14

The inadequacy of conventional methods is pointed out and a simple method is proposed to obtain directly the two-dimensional general expressions for the :steady-state base-current from Maxwell's and the current-density equations. The emitter-current crowding levels calculated from these expressions are lower than those predicted by the conventional one-dimensional model but close to the results given by twc-dimensional simulation with computer. The steady dynamic structure is calculated.
