Mechanical properties and fatigue crack propagation charateristics of medium carbon steels 40MnB and 40Cr in tempered martensite condition were investigated in parallel.The fatigue crack growth behavior and the effect of intergranular and transcrystalline mechanisms on fatigue crack growth rates of the two steels with similar high strength were revealed.Result show that the trace boron additive causes the changes in the mode of fatigue crack propagation and its route, so that crack growth rate of 40MnB is lowered. The higher fracture toughness and the striation mechanism of fatigue crack propagation of 40MnB are correlated closely with micro structural changes resulting due from presence of boron.

本文对40MnB、40Cr两种中碳钢低温回火马氏体的力学性能及疲劳裂纹扩展进行了对比研究。揭示了这两种钢在相近的高强度状态疲劳裂纹扩展行为及沿晶、穿晶断裂机制对裂纹扩展速度的影响。结果表明,微量合金元素硼改变了裂纹扩展途径和扩展方式,从而降低了疲劳裂纹扩展速率。40MnB钢较高的断裂韧性K_(IC)和断口显示的疲劳裂纹扩展机制,与硼所引起的组织精细结构的变化有密切关系。

本文研究了超载作用后的痨劳裂纹扩展特性。为了弄清超载效应的机理,用试件背面应变的方法连续测定了裂纹张开和闭合过程及其应力水平,并用扫描电子显微镜进行了显微电子断口分析,实验结果可定量解释超载的延缓效应和推迟延缓机理。
