SIT means, substantially, the combination of afforestation, transformation and utilization. The cutting age is 20—22 years for the SIT. It can transform the artificial pure larch forest into belt mixed broadleaved woodland 20 years earlier than that by selective felling. Fraxinus mandshurica, Juglans mandshurica and Tilia spp. should be the main regeneration species on the cutting strip. SIT can increase wood production by 10—12% and productive value by 15—18%, compared with that by seleetive felling. It can also improves working productivity and more convenient for the SIT to carry on mechanical operation while decreasing cost and operating safely. All the left larches on the strip can be cut in 10—15 years after felling. On the felling blank, Korean pine can be planted and the forest wall on the two sides of the grown up Fraxinus mandshurica can protect them Well.
