It has been discussed to design and apply a remote sensing system intended for measurement of noxious emissions from on-road vehicle engines. Further, the concept of measuring toxic pollutants by using, convertionally, a nondispersive infrared (NDIR) exhaust gas analyzer or a nondispersive ultravoilet (NDUV) radiation gas analyzer has been investigated, and an account of the advantages offered by such a remote measuring system has been given.
