The paper has studied the influence of diffusion temperature and time on the sintering property of panical-alloyed bronze powder. Sintering expansion transforms gradually into shrinkage withincreasing temperature and time. Panical-alloyed powders which compacts have little size change canbe obtained by optimizing diffusion process.

The influences of graphite content on the sintering expansion of copper base alloy and its expanding mechanism were investigated. The graphite contents were 0, 7.1%, 12%, 13.5% and 16.6% in volume fraction respectively, with the corresponding volume expanding ratios to be -6.4%, 4.6%, 16%, 21% and 32%. The sintering expandingmechanism is that the graphite powders separate the metal powders and thus hinder the formation of neck during sintering, which makes the sintering expansion due to the releasing of strain energy and the burning off of binder in the early stage of the sintering process be reserved till the end of sintering, and the sintering expanding ratio is linear with the graphite content.
