The number of chloroplast in the mesophyll cells decreased and degenerated gradual- ly.A number of meristemoids ware initiated in the cultured leaf explants after 7 days of cultivation.They were originated from two kinds of tissues, the mesophyll and vascular bundle, including the phloem parenchyma and vascular sheath. On the medium with NAA and BA, callus formation was induced with vigorous divisions, whereas bud primordia were differentiated from the meristomoids on the medium with 2 mg/l BA.The buds were developed from both the superficial meris- temoids and the meristematic regions deep within the callused leaf explants.The accuraulated starch in the cells gradually disappeared as bud formation proceeded.

Brown-Pearce carcinoma was grown successfully with 100% tumor takes when inoculated intracerebrally to rabbits. This result suggests that Ocaphane may cross the blood-brain barrier of tumor-bearing rabbits and the different degrees of therapeutic effect may be associated with the different growth rates of the tumor in various regions of the brain.It was demonstrated that when cells of Brown-Pearce carcinoma were exposed to Ocaphane at the concentration of 100 μg/ml for 3 hours, the activity of the reimplanted cells decreased significantly.

家兔脑内接种Brown-Pearce癌,成瘤率达100%。从小脑、大脑和丘脑不同部位接种时,家兔的平均生存时间分别为12.4,11.2和10.8天。在接种Brown-Pearce癌后10天测量肿瘤大小,结果以丘脑肿瘤最大,平均面积为21.5mm~2,大脑和小脑肿瘤分别为11.8和5.2mm~2,三者差异非常显著。 每天静脉注射邻脂苯芥0.7mg/kg,共7~10天,可使小脑、大脑和丘脑接种Brown-Pearce癌家兔的生存时间显著延长,延长率分别为61~64%,33~38%和23~30%。提示邻脂苯芥经静脉注射能到达脑部肿瘤灶。疗效的差异可能与肿瘤在不同脑区生长的速率有关。 将肿瘤与邻脂苯芥在体外温浴后再接种到家兔脑内时,可使肿瘤成瘤率明显下降。
