The theory of the mean and harmony is the key of the development and accomplishment of Zhu Xi’s philosophy thought. Mr.MOU Zong-san held that originally Zhu Xi’s former theory of the mean and harmony contained authentic Confucian theory of Pre-Qin and Song-Ming period. But due to Zhu Xi’s misunderstanding of “Metaphysical Reality” and Mencius’ “Moral Mind”, and confused the show of moral mind and the come forth of emotions of pleasure or anger, sorrow or joy, Zhu’s meaning of “emotions do not come forth”...

Mr.MOU Zong-san held that originally Zhu Xi’s former theory of the mean and harmony contained authentic Confucian theory of Pre-Qin and Song-Ming period. But due to Zhu Xi’s misunderstanding of “Metaphysical Reality” and Mencius’ “Moral Mind”, and confused the show of moral mind and the come forth of emotions of pleasure or anger, sorrow or joy, Zhu’s meaning of “emotions do not come forth” and “emotions do come forth” in his former theory of the mean and harmony were not agree with the Doctrine of the Mean. Hence Zhu Xi felt uncertain and finally abandoned his former theory of the mean and harmony and established his new theory. According to Mr.Mou, Zhu’s new theory of the mean and harmony, in reality, the “Metaphysical Reality” and the “Moral Mind ”or “Moral Creative Nature” were broken and became two parts of Reason and Matter or three parts of Mind and Nature and Emotion, and thus the “Moral Mind” went under. As for the method of spiritual cultivation, Zhu’s “Extension of Knowledge Through Investigation of Things” cannot understand the transcendent basis of the possibility of moral behavior. Therefore, Moral Mind lost the meaning of inward moral creative fountain, and the moral power was reduced owing to its “Heteronomy”.

中和学说是朱子哲学思想发展和完成的关键。牟宗三先生认为,朱子中和旧说本来蕴含先秦及宋明儒正宗的纵贯系统义理,但由于朱子对“天命流行之体”及孟子所说的“本心”无真切契悟,又因其混本心或良心发见之发与喜怒哀乐已发之发而为一,故其在中和旧说中所说的未发已发与《中庸》不符,朱子因此自疑而放弃中和旧说,并建立中和新说。朱子中和新说在本体上将“天命流行之体”及本心性体拆散而为理气二分、心性情三分之格局,心体沉没;在工夫上,格物论无法正确理解道德行为所以可能之超越的根据,这样,本心失去其为内在而固有的道德创生之源之义,道德成为一种他律道德而被“减杀”了力量。本人赞同牟先生判朱子相对于宋明儒“大宗”来说为“歧出”,但认为朱子“歧出”的义理间架不是本体上理解太差的“误出”。牟先生认为理解道德行为所以可能的超越根据唯有“逆觉体证”一途,舍此别无他法,未免太绝对。牟先生一味强调自律道德,而轻忽他律道德,也有偏颇之嫌。

There are three problems we should emphasize when we advocate humanistic culture construction. Firstly, during the social development of a nation, though science construction had the priority to humanistic culture operationally, humanistic culture construction takes priority to science construction logically. Secondly, modern construction cant do without traditional morals powerful support, "administrating a country by virtue" , which is complementary to "administrating a country by law" , not only cultures...

There are three problems we should emphasize when we advocate humanistic culture construction. Firstly, during the social development of a nation, though science construction had the priority to humanistic culture operationally, humanistic culture construction takes priority to science construction logically. Secondly, modern construction cant do without traditional morals powerful support, "administrating a country by virtue" , which is complementary to "administrating a country by law" , not only cultures the modern moral mind, but makes the traditional moral alive. Finally, with the economic globalization and China's membership in WTO, we should create hundreds of profit, and try to spread the values and esthetic ideas of Chinese culture to the world, by which forms culture safe system of the nation.

在知识经济时代中进行人文文化建设,需要对三个相关问题有清醒的认识。第一,在一个民族国家关于社会发展的宏大叙事中,虽然科学文化建设比人文文化建设具有“操作上的优先性”,但是,人文文化建设却比科学文化建设具有“逻辑上的优先性”。第二,从现代化建设离不开传统道德资源的支援看,与“依法治国”相辅相成的“以德治国”不仅旨在建设现代道德理念,也要活化传统道德资源。第三,在经济全球化的条件下,我们既要创造数以百亿计的文化产业利润,又要力图将中国文化的价值观、审美观传播到全世界,并以这种方式构筑国家文化安全体系。
