The development of silicate crystals after their "birth", is a very complicated process; in this connexion the traditional ideas have to be reconsidered. During the development, simple microlites are turning to complicated ones, and they serve as the starthing point from which various forms of skeletal crystals grow. The origins of dendrites, spherulites palmites, lobe-ites, and particularly of the hour-structure of crystals are discussed.

From many experiments conducted by the author on the dynamic behavior of soil inrecent years it has been found that the propagation velocity of elastic wave,shear modulus andthe coefficient of subgrade rigidity in homogeneous soil tends to vary with depth.For thisphenomenon,field tests are systematically conducted for loessal clay loam,settlemental-by-soaking loess,sand soil,silt soil and gravel.Test results indicate that the propagationvelocity of the elastic wave,shear modulus and coefficient of subgrade rigidity in homogeneoussoil all increase with the increase in depth and the variation law differs from each otherdepending on the properties of soil strata.In this paper,the above results are described and from the point of view of soil mecha-nics,a theoretical analysis on coefficient of subgrade rigidity of the soil with the shearmodulus varying with depth is evaluated.From the test and analysis made,the author is ofthe opinion that the present approach of treating the moduli of elasticity(E,G)and thecoefficient of subgrade rigidity as constants independent of the depth in dynamic foundationdesign has to be reconsidered.

近几年来,作者在对土的动性能所作的多次实验中,发现匀质土中弹性波的传播速度(V)、剪切模量(G)、地基抗压刚度系数(Cz)有随土层深度而变化的现象。针对这一现象,又系统地对黄土状亚粘土、湿陷性黄土、砂性土、淤泥及淤泥质土、砾石等进行了现场实验.实验结果表明:匀质土中弹性波的传播速度、剪切模量、地基抗压刚度系数均随土层深度增加而增大;不同性质的土层,其变化规律亦异.本文介绍了上述实验结果,并从土力学的观点对剪切模量随深度变化的抗压刚度系数进行了理论分析.通过所做的实验和分析,作者认为目前在设计动力机器基础时,将地基土的弹性系数(E、G)、地基抗压刚度系数(Cz)视作与深度无关的常量,需要重新考虑.
