This paper first of all deals with the relations between automation and the four modernizations. It introduces the properties, scopes, the history of development and the present state of the theory and technology of automation. It also deals with the development of the automation of products of mechanical industry and the automation of cold and heat processes both at home and abroad. This paper recommends the reguired works in seven fields of automation in our mechanical industry.

The chemical compositions,structure and topography of the Mn-Zn and Ni-Zn ferrite powders prepared by chemical coprecipitation have been investigated by chemical analysis, diffrential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and SEM analysis.The formation of ferrite spinels in the heating process is discussed on the basis of the results.It is shown that,by suitably choosing preparation conditions, ferrite powders with desirable microstructures and properties are obtained.
